History
Henderson Floral Shop, a local florist in Pana, IL , began business circa 1920 and officially closed in 1996. The florist, began by Barbara Henderson was passed on to “Ren” Alde’s father, who kept the original name of the business. Ren Alde took over the business after returning to Pana after military service and working there for a time. The greenhouse was added to the structure, known as Alde’s Greenhouse and the Alde’s grew various garden plants at the greenhouse which they would sell each spring and had many local gardeners purchase seeds and plants from them. The Alde family lived in an attached home to the floral shop and greenhouse. After “Ren” passed from a heart attack in 1988 (away from the home), his son Rich took over.
At the time of the investigation, the structure was owned by Stacey and Tommy Fikan.
Reported activity
Activity within the structure includes voices being heard directly off of the kitchen area, and well as other activity such as footsteps and items moving locations.
Methods of Investigation
During the investigation, infrared video was taken, tape recordings to capture EVPs were conducted around both the downstairs and upstairs, Rem pods to check for electromagnetic interference were placed on the staircase to the second floor, as well as a spirit box used to try to communicate with any entity that could be there.
We also employed the Estes Method, which involves a blindfold and earphones on an individual, who also listened to a spirit box. That person says out loud any words which came through the spirit box, without having any outside influence. Another person would ask questions of any supposed entity. If the questions and answers lined up, that indicates that a conversation was held.
Results
After the investigation was completed, all evidence was taken back and each person reviewed their own evidence. A few possible EVPs were collected, but nothing substantial. EMF readers did register something without other corroborating evidence. The Estes Method could have been construed as minorly successful, as a few answers lined up with questions asked.
Also, due to outside noise (a thunderstorm as well as a neighbor playing music at a loud party), evidence collected could be debuffed. As a result no conclusive evidence supports the idea of the building being haunted, however due to some evidence being obtained, it cannot be ruled out.
